Why Daraz Is Not Always Cheapest

Daraz is the biggest e-commerce platform in Bangladesh. But biggest does not mean cheapest — and our data proves it.
We analyzed over 50,000 product comparisons across 8 platforms in the first quarter of 2026. Here is what we found:
Electronics:
Pickaboo beats Daraz on price 40% of the time for smartphones and accessories. The difference averages 5-12% on mid-range phones (15,000-30,000 BDT range). For headphones and earbuds, Pickaboo is cheaper 55% of the time.
Groceries:
Chaldal consistently beats Daraz on fresh produce and daily essentials. For a standard monthly grocery basket (rice, oil, dal, spices, cleaning products), Chaldal saves the average family 800-1,200 BDT per month. Shwapno's online store is competitive on meat and fish.
Fashion:
Daraz is actually cheapest for fashion 60% of the time, especially for budget brands and Chinese imports. But for quality Bangladeshi brands (Aarong, Yellow, Cats Eye), buying direct from brand websites or Ajkerdeal is often 10-15% cheaper.
Books:
Rokomari beats every platform on book prices. Their used book section offers savings of 40-60% over any competitor including Daraz.
Home appliances:
For large appliances (refrigerators, washing machines, ACs), buying from brand-authorized dealers on platforms like Transcom Digital or Singer's own store is cheaper and includes better warranty terms than Daraz marketplace sellers.
Why the price difference exists:
Daraz is a marketplace — thousands of sellers compete, and prices vary wildly. The cheapest Daraz seller for a product might beat everyone, but the first result you see is often not the cheapest seller. Smaller platforms with curated inventory tend to have more consistent pricing.
The bottom line:
No single platform is always cheapest. The winner changes by product category, brand, and even time of year. That is exactly why Mart exists — to do the comparison work so you do not have to.
Use Mart before every purchase above 1,000 BDT. Over a year, the average Mart user saves 15,000-25,000 BDT by choosing the cheapest platform each time.
